Teacher Training

Arch, Ankle, Knee and Hip Anatomy Awareness in Asana with Julie Gudmestad
This workshop, coming in February, is designed to acquaint yoga students, teacher-trainees and teachers with anatomical vocabulary, musculoskeletal structures and movement patterns in relation to the yoga asanas. Julie's particular focus for the workshop will be on the arch, ankle, knee and hip. Class time will involve lecture, demonstration and discussion, as well as direct work in the asanas.

  - Learn to “see” muscles in action, and correctly describe
the movement;

  - Understand how muscles interact to form movement patterns in yoga poses;

  - See demonstrations of both structure and function; and

  - Participate in asana practice sessions that allow you to feel, in your own body, the actions
    of muscles and the dramatic effects of subtle changes in alignment.

After graduation, I moved to Europe where my yoga flirtation turned into a true love affair. In 2001, I returned to the States to complete my Yoga Teacher Training with Integrative Yoga Therapy and Joseph LePage. I then opened a small studio in England, and also taught in New Zealand before returning to teach classes in my home town of Ojai, California with my friends at Lulu Bandhas, the home of the Ojai Yoga Crib. In the spring of 2007, I relocated to beautiful Bend, Oregon with my husband and our lovable mutt to start our new life adventure! In the spring of 2009 we made the move from Bend to the wonderful small town of Sisters, and we knew that Sisters would become not only our home, but also the home of Life.Love.Yoga.
