Thai for Two Thai Massage Workshop

Spend the day with your sweetie and learn simple and elegant ways to ease aches and pains using the ancient techniques of Thai massage. This workshop is a fun way to reconnect with your Valentine as you discover the deep relaxation of Thai massage. Participants should be comfortable working on soft mats on the floor and have the ability to move around on hands and knees. Thai massage is done fully clothed -- wear loose comfortable clothes that are easy to move around in. Thai mats are provided. Register with a partner to work with during hands-on practice ($69 fee per person). Instructor is an LMT, RTT. $10 payable to instructor at class for full color manual.

 

Thai Massage II

Traditional Thai massage has been with the Thai people for over 2500 years. This class will focus on learning the Northern Style Thai Massage, which allows smaller people to give a comfortable massage to rather large people. Focus will be given to providing a safe effective massage without causing injury to the giver or the receiver. The use of proper body mechanics, leverage and sensitivity are all very important aspects of this work. Lots of hands-on experience for the students as well as the opportunity to receive bodywork and feedback from the instructor. Prior education and an understanding of basic massage techniques is required. Instructor is Jessica Layton. (30 contact hours, CEUs included).


Traditional Thai Foot Reflexology

Learn how to give a fantastic foot massage Thai style using a rosewood massage tool from Thailand. You will be able to offer amazing therapeutic and relaxing techniques to your clients without injuring your thumbs. During the second day you will apply the techniques you learned to stimulate and sedate reflex points on the feet. Satisfy your clients' sole. Instructor is an LMT, RTT. (14 contact hours, CEUs included).



Clinical Assessments for Massage Therapists

Introduction to clinical assessment procedures including orthopedic assessment, muscle testing, postural and gait analysis, rehabilitation theories and neurological tests. The course will prepare you to independently assess and judge dysfunction of various structures of the body. This will be basic training for entry level competency and understanding of assessment protocols to allow seamless entry into a clinical practice. Prior education and an understanding of basic massage techniques is required. Instructor is Karen Pagan. (60 contact hours, CEUs included).

 

Effective Office Decisions for Massage Therapists

Learn to address many of the issues that a massage therapist may encounter in their massage therapy business. An emphasis is placed on developing sound strategies for making informed office management decisions that relate to a massage therapy practice. Prior education and an understanding of basic massage techniques is required. Instructor is Jessica Layton. (20 contact hours, CEUs included).


Neuromuscular Treatments through Massage

This class is a combination of lecture, demonstration of technique, class discussion, small group work and hands-on practice time with a fellow student partner, video, written and practical quizzes, and small group work. This course requires outside class assignments including reading and practice of massage techniques. Discussion and practice time are a valuable part of the learning process so attendance and participation are necessary. Prior education and an understanding of basic massage techniques required. (70 contact hours, CEUs included).


Sports Massage

Introduces the principles and techniques of massage that relates  to sports and exercise. Deep Tissue and Muscle Energy Techniques specific to athletes are explored. Relevant anatomy, physiology, assessmant are included that may assist in the rehabiltation of sports injuries. Preresquisite LMT 150 or instructor approval. Prior education and an understanding of basic massage techniques required.  (60 contact hours, CEUs included).


Zen Shiatsu

Learn Zen Shiatsu history, basic theory, and techniques. Get hands-on experience in both traditional floor technique as well as table technique while working with a clothed client in the style of Shizuto. Discover how to target specific client needs using Yin/Yan, Kyo/Jitsu, the 12 meridians, the 5 element theory and the 24 hour clock. Recommended prerequisite: One year certificate student, LMT, bodyworker, or other related health professional. Instructor is Alan Nunes. (60 contact hours, CEUs included).
