Pass Competencies in Reading, Writing, and Math

You must pass competency tests in reading, writing, and math. You may need to attend GED/College Prep classes ($30 per term) to improve your skills.

Participate in AHSD Online Cohort

Until you earn your diploma, you must participate in the AHSD Online Cohort. In the cohort sessions you will

·         complete the Group Dynamics course.

·         develop an Education Plan and Profile.

·         demonstrate career-related learning.

·         participate in career-related experiences.

·         assemble a portfolio of your work.

Credits may be earned by taking high school completion classes through the ABE department, by taking credit classes from COCC, or by combining classes with life experience and independent study credit. To get started, you will need a transcript from the last high school and any colleges you have attended.  Tuition is $90 per half credit plus books ($15-55 per half-credit course) for high school completion courses. Academic Skills Improvement credit costs $30. Transcript evaluation is a one-time, nonrefundable fee of $10, and life experience credits, based on a life experience evaluation, are $90 per half credit. Click on the  link for the Life Experience Survey.

If you would like to take credit classes to use for both high school completion credit and college credit, go to http://web.cocc.edu/admit/default.htm for information about tuition, fees, admission procedures, and class schedules.
